Dare to Choose Your Own Path to Find Joy in Your Work!

When we're young, we're often asked what we want to be when we grow up, as if there's only one path to choose and follow for the rest of our lives. My own working life has shown me that the path is rarely a straight one. Instead, it has been shaped by my interests, opportunities, encounters with people, and the courage to follow what truly feels right in my heart.

My first job was at a flower nursery. I loved being outdoors and working with my hands. It was a job that gave me energy and taught me the value of taking responsibility and always doing your best, regardless of the task. Even then, I realized how important it is to enjoy what you do.

Later, I chose to study to become a primary school teacher. Working with children and young people was an incredible experience. I truly enjoyed the school environment and appreciated the opportunity to inspire, support, and help students grow and develop. No two days were ever the same. Everyday life was filled with energy and meaningful encounters that made my work rewarding. My years as a teacher taught me a great deal about communication and the importance of seeing and valuing every individual.

Alongside my studies, I started working as a fitness instructor at Wasa Sports Club. For the first time, I discovered the joy of motivating others to feel better. It was a world that inspired me, and one where I felt I could truly make a difference.

After some time, I was asked if I wanted to take responsibility for the group fitness department. My gut instinct immediately said yes!

Later, I was also given the opportunity to become a trainer for the Les Mills fitness programs. It was a challenge that required both courage and a willingness to grow. Looking back, I'm so grateful that I dared to say yes to new opportunities, even when they felt both exciting and intimidating. After all, I had originally planned something completely different for my career.

I still love working at Wasa Sports Club because I have been given the opportunity to shape and develop my role over the years. What I appreciate most is the close contact with our members and the great variety in my work. Meeting people from different backgrounds, with different goals and life situations, makes every day both meaningful and inspiring.

Being able to help someone discover the joy of exercise, build their self-confidence, or improve their health is a reward in itself.

At the same time, we all know that life isn't always easy. There are days when things don't go according to plan, both at work and in our personal lives. Setbacks are a natural part of life, and I have learned that having a positive attitude makes a tremendous difference. Focusing on opportunities instead of obstacles helps us keep moving forward, even when the road feels challenging.

Something I would like to leave you with:

Dare to listen to yourself.

Follow your own path.

Life may lead you down unexpected roads that turn out to be exactly where you're meant to be.

Dare to try something new. Dare to take chances. Dare to choose what feels right in your heart. When you do, you're much more likely to find both joy and purpose in your work.
